More Milestones...

My baby girl is growing up way too fast for my liking. It is amazing just how quickly she is changing. In addition to "jabbering" and sleeping through the night (although this is a milestone I am enjoying), she is putting check marks beside a more things:

  • scooting on her back; gone are the days of leaving her lying places
  • graduated out of the 4 oz. bottles to 6 oz. of milk
  • interacting and "playing", especially with her brother (she already adores him)

  • most 3-6 month clothes
  • my big girl in her Bumbo seat. She loves being able to sit in this and see the world.

Sitting upright at all times is now her favorite position, even when holding her. She just soaks up her surroundings.
She is also liking brother's "blank blanks". CR is so sweet to share with her a lot, but the other night he was eager to show her her own that he got her before she was born. I think I am going to have another child that loves their security blanket as much as I did

All of these changes really zonks her out!

Frog Fun

This year we again attended a lot of events at our town's Spring Festival that lasts all week long. This has become a tradition that CR looks forward to all year long.

CR eating his breakfast waiting for the first event...the parade

Glen and Glenda the Frog (the festival mascots) leading the parade

Waiting for the frog float to begin

Here they come to the finish line...of course the first ones "owners" to get to the end win some prizes.

Glen in the boat was a great way to help the time pass for the kids as they all awaited the frogs to float (with the help of a fireman/hose) to the finish line.

Bless her heart...she is such a trooper to hang out in the heat and not make a fuss that all we drag her to. I guess this is the "second child syndrome". They must learn to adapt with the lives of the others in the family.
CR digging for frogs

Making his frogs on stick snack (pretzels with peanut butter on it with M&M's as frogs
Sundaes with Glen...and some of his buddies. CR had to visit with each of the "friends"

Making his frog flowerpot
I can't believe he did this. Last year, he would have never done such. This year we had to wait in line over an hour to do this. HE LOVED IT! I can't believe how much he has changed in a year.

K doesn't even get to "help" anymore. CR wants to go by himself. He has turned into such a big boy. So long for Dada's fun until Baby C needs his help.

I got to ride this with him...fun but made me dizzy (a feeling I care nothing about since my tumor). I am glad he enjoyed it though and is over his fear of rides.

He is also not afraid of characters any longer it seems

This may be his favorite event...at least the one that he has talked about most since last year. This year it was even better...he wasn't afraid of the loud horns and got in a lot more trucks. This was a loader that he got to get into and operate. This was right up his alley! He always says he is going to have a red diesel truck one day. The boy and his trucks!

At this event, a huge parking lot is filled with trucks, trucks, and more trucks. We had to get into every one almost. It was so exciting for him to crank them up, sit up high, look at the cranes.

Of course we had to visit this first!

Tis the Season...

...for strawberry picking. We went on our first trip (of probably many) of the season to pick strawberries today. It is so much fun to do as a family and something I look forward to each year.
CR taking off to the fields of strawberries. He was eager to get started picking.
Of course he couldn't pick without sampling.

It is amazing the difference a year makes. Last year, we had to keep close tabs on him to make sure he chose the good strawberries, but this year he was a pro.
Our pickings

We also enjoyed some strawberry treats (homemade ice cream and slushy) from the store where you pay for the berries.

As you can see, CR, enjoyed it all...his face shows it all!

Zoo Trip

We did this during my Spring Break, but I am just getting to posting the pics. This is one of CR's favorite places to visit.
Since it was Spring and the flowers were in bloom we decided to take a trip over to the Botanical Garden side of the zoo. I am glad we did (despite the wait for the "train" and having to fight for our place in line. It amazes me how heartless people are sometimes. It is too long of a story to spend time posting on, but anyways...the gardens are beautiful.
Starla and her kids plus a neighbors kid she was watching all went. The kids didn't seem to enjoy this part of the zoo as much as us (of course).

My little tiger! And no, I didn't plan his outfit for this pic. I just put him it for the weather and the fact that it is easy to spot.

Not a good shot, but this is my favorite zoo exhibit. They are such pretty creatures!

The howler monkeys were in rare form today...put on a great show.

One of CR's favorite exhibits.

This was so cute...a baby giraffe.

Too cute...my mom actually has a picture of me doing the same thing with some of my classmates during a 2nd grade field trip here.

The meerkat had no worries...just sunning!

Help Save Education for Our Children

As you probably all are aware of, our schools are in detremential need of help right now as the budgets are being cut in MAJOR ways! In the end, this boils down to loss of teachers which means bigger class sizes, less supplies/technology to teach with, and overall cuts in the amount of money spent on each student. Please help save the education of our children by visiting the following site and signing a petition. Also please share this with everyone you know!

"The next few weeks are critical as final budget decisions must be made in the state legislature. This website is about petitioning Gov. Sanford to accept the stimulus funds that would benefit public safety and education funding and showing the members of the S. C. Legislature that their support of such is critical."

3 month milestone

I am almost afraid to post this thinking I may ginx myself, but I have to document this, so I can remember it forevermore (something I didn't do enough of with CR). Since I didn't document everything with CR, I don't have so much to compare to with baby C. But then again, maybe that is a good thing that I don't, that way I can't compare them and their accomplishments in life. Instead it makes me focus on each child and their own pace of achieving milestones.

Anyways, on the night of her turning 3 months, she slept all night through (from 8PM-7:30AM). I woke to the alarm clock at 5:45 panicked thinking something had happened. My first thought was did I get up and feed her during the night, but just forgot in my sleepy state, but that soon was figured out by my engorgment. I ran to her room to make sure she was okay, and of course she was fine...still snoozing away. Last night, she didn't wake til 5AM, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for more of these (even though she always has only woken once during the night).

I am so proud of her and blessed that she is such a good sleeper and awesome baby! This is a milestone that we are still working on with her 3 1/2 year old brother!

Forgot Best Picture

How could I have forgotten this picture in my last post...the best place in my visit back to Clemson...Death Valley. It was actually busy here later this day because they had the Spring Game, 2 Baseball games, and a Volleyball game all in one day. The crowd made for a fun visit and made me ready for football season again!
